Germany complains about the lack of skilled workers but then make it too difficult to actually get them in. For example, I'm a software engineer with 26 years of experience. I've applied to a few jobs in Germany and the EU (I'm from the US). I'll get offered the occasional interview and email response but as soon as they find out that I need a visa, I get ghosted. Also, I'm German by descent. I've been waiting on the BVA for going on 10 months without anything from them. Getting that certificate would fix the first problem. It all feels like huge disconnect and I often wonder if Germany actually wants skilled immigrants or if it's just a good talking point.
