Germany has sparked controversy after
launching talks with Russia about purchasing doses of its Sputnik V
coronavirus vaccine without waiting for coordinated EU action.
Germany's Bavaria region has signed a provisional agreement to buy doses of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine once it is approved by European regulators, state premier Markus Söder said Wednesday.
German regional leaders urged the EU Thursday to speed up its review of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine and ensure that
it could be rolled out efficiently across the bloc once approved.
The head of Germany’s vaccine agency has praised Russia’s Sputnik V inoculation against coronavirus, saying he expects it to be approved in Europe.
