German giant Deutsche Telekom is warning customers to change their passwords after finding that up to 120,000 customers' data was being sold on the black market.
One-fifth of Germany’s major companies has been attacked by hackers within the past three years, but companies are also not taking cyber security as seriously as they should, according to a study released on Monday.
The victims of Germany’s biggest ever data theft were being informed on Monday if their email account had been hacked. Authorities said 18 million email account details were taken and launched a webpage for people to check.
Each German government ministry and 17 of its members of parliament were targeted by the huge data theft in which 16 million online identities were stolen.
