Germany's cabinet on Wednesday plans to agree a ban on child marriages after the recent mass refugee influx brought in many couples where one or both partners were aged under 18.
There are now 361 children under the age of 14 living in Germany, interior ministry figures show. Most of these children are from countries in the Middle East and eastern Europe.
With hundreds of cases of child brides reportedly coming to Germany among recently arrived refugees, German politicians are considering tightening the rules.
