I wonder about the statistics for gaining citizenship by declaration (Erwerb der deutschen Staatsangehörigkeit durch Erklärung nach § 5 StAG)? I just got mine approved in April which took nearly 2 years to process but I think it was worth it because now I have both German and USA citizenship.
