Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is Germany’s busiest air travel hub and one of Europe’s most important gateways, handling the bulk of the country’s intercontinental traffic and serving as a key transfer point for flights across Europe and beyond.
Whether you’re planning a winter escape to the Arctic, a Mediterranean city break or a long‑haul journey outside Europe, Frankfurt’s expanding route network offers a growing range of choices.
Several airlines have suggested that further additions and adjustments may be announced as the 2026 summer season approaches.
But for now, the following international flights from Frankfurt have recently started running or been announced for later in the year.
Recently announced international routes:
Manchester, United Kingdom
Lufthansa City Airlines launched direct international flights from Frankfurt to Manchester on February 9th, marking the first route operated by the airline from its new Frankfurt base.
The service strengthens links between Germany’s main hub and northern England, with further European destinations set to follow later in the year.

Valencia, Spain
Direct flights between Frankfurt and Valencia were added in mid-February, with Lufthansa City Airlines including the Spanish city among its first international routes from Frankfurt.
Valencia offers a mix of Mediterranean beaches, historic architecture and year‑round mild weather.
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
TUIfly launched direct flights from Frankfurt to Sharm El Sheikh at the end of 2025.
The service operates twice a week, providing direct access to one of Egypt’s most popular Red Sea resort destinations during the winter season.

Panama City, Panama
Condor’s direct long‑haul route between Frankfurt and Panama City, introduced in 2025, is operating with two flights per week through the 2025/26 winter schedule.
While the connection strengthens Frankfurt’s direct links to Central America, plans to continue through the summer remain uncertain at the time of writing. Â
Additionally, several new direct international flights to northern destinations were introduced with the 2025/26 winter flight schedule, particularly aimed at travellers interested in Arctic landscapes and winter tourism.
Discover Airlines launched new winter services from Frankfurt to:
- Alta, Norway – from December 4th, 2025
- Harstad‑Narvik, Norway – from December 20th, 2025
- Oulu, Finland – from January 16th, 2026
All three destinations are being served in winter for the first time, having previously been offered only during the summer season.
New routes launching soon:
Lufthansa City Airlines has confirmed that additional international short‑haul routes from Frankfurt are set to begin during the summer 2026 flight schedule. At time of publication, the exact start dates and flight frequencies had not yet been published.

Seychelles
Discover Airlines launched direct flights from Frankfurt to the Seychelles in October 2025 and has since extended the route from a seasonal winter service into a year‑round connection.
The service operates twice weekly, offering one of the few direct links between Germany and the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Varna, Bulgaria
Discover Airlines has upgraded its Frankfurt–Varna route to a year‑round international service for the first time.
The Bulgarian Black Sea city was previously served on a seasonal basis.
Long‑haul changes planned for summer 2026
Lufthansa also confirmed that several existing long‑haul routes from Frankfurt will be operated with Boeing 787‑9 aircraft featuring the new Allegris cabin from summer 2026.
Routes scheduled to receive the new aircraft from Frankfurt include:
- New York (JFK), United States – from June
- Los Angeles, United States – from June
- Montreal, Canada – from June
- Delhi, India – from July
