One country's national stereotype is about hard work and efficiency, the other's is more concerned with lunch, cigarette breaks and strikes - but is it actually true that the Germans work harder than the French?

I would love to have you compare these data (data is plural) to non EU countries such as Great Britain, China, The USA, etc. Thanks for the information, especially lunch!! Also, as previously commented the outputs and productivity are what really count, however well being of our society and quality cannot be underestimated.

Statistics and numbers are so easy to consider as facts, but everyone knows (I hope) it is not the amount of working hours that counts - it is the output per hour and person that’ counts! Less hours than other does not automatically means less output - that is defined by the efficiency - and the efficiency and output defines the real GDP- growth - not the hours worked !
