'Machines don't work!': The problem of getting digital ID photos in Germany

Germany's latest step toward digitalisation means local authorities will soon only accept digital photos for ID cards and residence permits. But from difficulties photographing babies to delays setting up photo machines, problems remain.

Some updates on this story would be good. The berlin.de website is very vague on what's needed and the service offered by passport photo studios in Berlin seem not to meet what they're saying is needed. So which is right?
