When I came to Germany to enroll in language school, my initial interview answers seemed to perplex the committee. "Where did you learn to speak German?" was an intriguing question. What little I then knew was heavily influenced by my exposure to both Schlager and Volksmusik. The best way to learn a language is to sing it, in my opinion. My distinctive vocabulary and accent distinguished me from other native-English speakers at the Goethe Institute, it appears :)
