BVG staff are quite accustomed to cleaning up messes left in or around U-Bahn trains, but this one proved to be quite a different challenge.
The Berlin transit company’s workers discovered early Friday morning that someone had filled an U-Bahn carriage parked in storage with dried leaves, covering the entire floor and all the seats, Tagesspiegel reported on Saturday.
The clean-up effort involving brooms and fans lasted several hours and caused delays due to the train being out of service.
Â
The trick was presumably the work of graffiti artists, Tagesspiegel explains, because an image of the autumnal U-Bahn scene was posted on the Facebook page Berlin Writers, a magazine and website dedicated to street art.
Â
Â
The post had the caption "Autumn is here!" And was shared more than 500 times as of Friday.
Â
But not everyone was amused.Â
Â
"Think about the passengers who had to work and because of you the train didn't come," one Facebook user wrote.
