Twelve people in Denmark have died from consuming meat tainted with the the bacteria Listeria. It is not yet known if the deadly meat has been sold to the public, it was announced late Wednesday. Copenhagen officials had previously said none of the meat had been sold outside of its borders.
So far, there have been no suspected cases of Listeriosis, the illness resulting from infection by the Listeria bacteria, reported in Germany.
The manufacturer, Jørn A. Rullepølse, has already issued a recall on all of its products. According to the Danish newspaper Politiken, the processor has issued two previous recalls due to Listeria contamination.
