A drunken bike rider rode for kilometres on the A81 autobahn near Stuttgart without a light early Saturday morning, police reported.

The 38-year-old man was finally pulled over in the county of Böblingen after having ridden seven kilometres in the right-hand lane of motorway. Police said the man was made to give a blood sample to determine his alcohol level, but did not immediately share results.

Bicycles and mopeds are not allowed on the autobahn. Riding a bike at night without a light is also a traffic offence punishable by fine and/or the loss of points on a drivers’ license.
