Popstar Nena set to become an Oma at 49

The Bild newspaper reported on Saturday that the popstar’s 19-year-old daughter Larissa is four months pregnant - and that her famous mother is overjoyed.

“My first reaction was a huge, happy scream,” the 49-year-old mother-of-four told the paper.

“Nothing went through my head at first, it was more of a gut reaction. It took a few seconds before my brain kicked in. I won’t know for a few months how my life will change now. The wheels are turning faster at the moment, and I love that.”

She is working in Hamburg at the moment, recording a new album.

She does not think that 19 is necessarily too young to become a mother, telling the paper: “My mother was also 19 when she was pregnant with me. She often told me about it. The advantage is perhaps that one has a bit more time and energy to grow into the role.”

But she also said she would be there for her daughter to help out.

“Larissa has a big family which includes her friends,” she said. “It is the most natural thing in the world that we will all be there for her when we are needed.”
